Senior Manager, PwC Norway
Working hours pass quickly as a Senior Manager at PwC Consulting. That’s why Magna Kristine Sørum Saure is very pleased with the priority she has managed to make.
“This course has been a unique opportunity to reflect and develop myself as both a leader and a coach,” says an enthusiastic Magna Kristine Sørum Saure.
She is talking about the course Self-Leadership and Coaching, delivered by TNG Consulting.
With a hectic work pace and responsibility for both organizational and leadership development, the need for self-leadership was a key motivation for joining the course.
“My job requires me to balance many complex tasks at the same time. Finding tools to structure my everyday work and to better understand my own strengths and limitations has been absolutely crucial,” she continues.
One of the greatest benefits of the course has been increased awareness of her own values.
“I’ve learned how important it is to understand what drives me – and what triggers allergic reactions in me. This has made me more reflective in my interactions with others and given me tools to understand both my own and others’ patterns of reaction,” Magna says.
She also highlights how this has strengthened her as a leader:
“I am now better able to meet people where they are, on their terms, instead of pulling them in a direction that necessarily suits me. That has made me a more supportive and effective coach.”
The course design – with sessions and work in between – has been an important factor in her development.
“Having a learning journey over time, where you work on tasks and reflections between sessions, has been incredibly valuable. I feel that I’ve taken big steps from the start of the course until now,” she says.
Another dimension that made the course special was the community among the participants.
“Getting to know others on such a personal level, discussing topics you might not even talk about with your family, and building networks across industries has been an enrichment in itself.”
She also praises the course leaders for their patience and ability to meet participants where they are.
“Toril and the team have been fantastic. They gave us trust and support from day one and were very patient as we learned and tested new things. This made the learning process both safe and motivating.”
For Magna, the course has been a reminder of the importance of pausing in a busy workday.
“Taking time for personal development, being fully present without distractions from phone or computer, has been both a luxury and a necessity. I believe that’s important for everyone – no matter where you sit in the organization,” she concludes.
