Coach & Talent Director, KPMG
Anita Sellgren Normann paints with broad strokes when describing the course she attended with us. Yet she means every single word.
-The course exceeded my expectations! I now have greater impact, influence, and effect on those around me. I am clearer in how I communicate and more grounded in myself.
Anita has been with KPMG for more than 14 years. She first worked as an auditor for 10 years, and through increasing project and people responsibilities, she developed a strong interest in coaching as a tool. Today she is Coach & Talent Director, responsible for developing the firm’s employees and leaders. The course has therefore been central not only for her own growth, but also for learning more about the tool she regularly uses to help others succeed.
Employees at KPMG are expected to perform at a very high level – from colleagues as well as from the clients they work with. That makes strong leadership skills essential – both in leading oneself and others. Anita is clear that coaching is a necessary and effective part of developing today’s leaders.
“Our talents are expected to deliver at a high level. We train them in technical and project management, but they must also learn to manage themselves and those around them. Coaching is the most powerful tool for unlocking people’s potential,” Anita says.
When Anita decided to pursue certification as a coach, she did her homework. Her choice of the LEARN program was partly because it is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) – the global professional body for coaches. Relevance was also key:
“The bridge Toril and her team build to business was also decisive for me. I chose the course because I saw a method I could easily apply in our high-performing environment,” she explains.
Looking back, Anita is in no doubt that the process has shaped her.
“The course has changed me – in my attitudes as well as in my behavior. What I have learned I carry with me into every arena: work, other relationships, and even at home with my family.”
This is a highly active program where participation is essential. The practical approach is based on learning and development happening together with others.
“This course delivers quality from beginning to end. I have gained several powerful tools for coaching others, while also adopting a new mindset and new attitudes that strengthen me and those around me. I believe LEARN is the best training arena if you want to develop yourself and become a better leader or coach with high credibility,” she concludes.
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) has accredited TNG’s LEARN Coaching program, which means that the courses lead to ICF certification.
